QFamily: Support for LGBTIQA+ and rainbow families
QFamily is part of Drummond Street Services and Queerspace, with a long history of supporting LGBTIQA+ individuals, parents and rainbow families.
Our work is grounded in social justice and guided by an intersectional approach that recognises the diverse experiences, identities and strengths within every family. We understand that LGBTIQA+ families can experience unique joys and challenges, particularly when navigating parenthood, relationships, systems and community.
QFamily offers inclusive, affirming support so families can feel seen, supported and confident.
QFamily works closely with other family services at Drummond Street Services. If you are expecting a baby or navigating early parenthood, you may also be interested in Ready Steady Family, which provides free support for expecting and new parents.

Our Services
QFamily is a team of LGBTQIA+ identifying practitioners providing flexible, low or no cost support to rainbow families. Our supports are designed to strengthen wellbeing, relationships and connection across the whole family.
Support options include:
- Support with planning for a family and transitioning to parenthood
- Parenting support through coaching, peer support and groups
- Individual counselling
- Couple or parenting team relationship support
- Family wellbeing and whole-of-family support
- Support with early attachment and understanding your baby’s cues
Some families may also benefit from broader early-parenting support through Ready Steady Family, particularly during pregnancy and the first years of parenting.

Inclusive and affirming care
All QFamily support is LGBTIQA+ affirming and delivered by practitioners who understand the lived experiences of rainbow families. We work alongside families to support mental health, relationships and parenting in ways that reflect your values, identities and family structure.
How to access support
You do not have to navigate family life alone. QFamily offers flexible appointments during the day and evening, in person or online. Some support can take place in your home, at a community venue, or at one of our locations in Melbourne’s North and West.
