Family Violence Service for young people who have experienced and/or enacted harm (AVITH/Adolescent Violence in the Home)

The Family Violence Service for Young People offers a specialist response for young people and their families when there have been experiences of harm and family violence within the home, including where young people have enacted harm.

Drummond Street Services uses a whole of family approach for all people coming into the service.

Our wrap around response creates opportunities for the young person and family to engage in therapeutic support that:

  • meets their diverse and dynamic needs
  • achieves their goals
  • improves their wellbeing both individually and as a family.
  • We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land where
  • we work and pay respects to elders past, present and future.

Family Violence Service for young people who have experienced and/or enacted harm The Family Violence Service for Young People offers:

  • Comprehensive risk and assessment, ensuring all voices are heard and age-appropriate interventions and  referrals are formed
  • Individual therapeutic and support work
  • A space for young people and their families to explore their experiences of harm and violence
  • Processes and tools for young people and other members of a family to support exploration of different choices within relationships dynamics, to work towards healing, and foster supportive and positive relationships
  • Individual support by a specialist family violence parenting practitioner to explore healthy relationships, attachment, child development and parenting skills
  • Referrals to internal programs and external services providing a holistic and integrated service response
  • Continual collaboration and a coordinated whole of family response

The program is offered across the north western suburbs of Melbourne and is funded by the Australian Government
