About Mental Health and Wellbeing Local

Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are the new ’front door’ to community mental health support in Victoria for adults aged 26+ seeking mental health and wellbeing support closer to home.

The service is entirely free of charge and doesn’t require a referral from a doctor or health professional or Medicare card.

The team at the Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are dedicated to listening and understanding your concerns, working with you to design a personalized care plan that meets your goals and preferences. If you require additional support, they can also connect you with other health and social services. The multidisciplinary team includes mental health clinicians, peer support workers, community link workers, AOD clinicians, family workers and LGBTIQA+ workers.

This service is open to anyone over the age of 26 experiencing mental health or wellbeing concerns, including those experiencing both mental health and substance use issues.

If you are a family member, carer, friend, or supporter of someone with mental health concerns, you can also access support for your own mental health needs or caring role.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals have multiple locations throughout Victoria.  We currently provide services in Latrobe, in partnership with Neami National and Uniting Vic Tas , and in Whittlesea, in partnership with Neami National, Uniting Vic Tas, and Victorian Aboriginal Health Service.
